Medications and Breastfeeding

Many parents wonder if the prescribed and/or over-the-counter medicine that they are about to consume, is safe while nursing.
 
STOP!
 
 
1. Call your lactation consultant. A lactation consultant will give you immediate feedback if the medicine is L-1 category.  L-1 is a category for a medicine considered safe while breastfeeding. or
