Brooklyn: 7 Children Killed in Midwood House Fire Early Saturday Morning

7 children dead in Midwood Home Fire

BROOKLYN — Seven children between the ages of 5 and 15 died early Saturday morning when a fire, apparently caused by a hot plate, ripped through their Midwood home, police and sources said.
The children — three girls age 8, 12, and 15 and four boys age 5, 6, 7 and 11 — were all from the same family, sources said.

According to NY Daily News:

"The dead children’s mother and her oldest daughter smashed through second floor windows to escape the blaze, but could not save the four boys and three girls trapped in their upstairs bedrooms, authorities said.
The dead boys were ages 5, 6, 7 and 11, and the dead girls were ages 8, 12 and 15 in the city’s deadliest fire in seven years, the Fire Department said."
